After a lifetime of commitment to Christianity, I am seriously concerned that many thinking people who may have had some warmth for the Christian message, have moved away.
A recent study found that 59% of millennials raised in a church have dropped out.
They are put off when they discover some teachings that are actually inconsistent with BBC (Balanced, Biblical Christianity).
Hopefully, this Blog will give such people a chance to rethink, a forum in which they can express their true feelings, and somewhere they can further advance their quest for the truth of the Gospel.[image:17]
Some Issues to be discussed:
Irrelevance - core truth is lost in a fog of meaningless chatter masquerading as spirituality. To quote Sam Eaton, "stop wasting time on the religious mumbo jumbo and get back to the heart of the Gospel".
First order issues – Some are caught up with minor issues and speculation. Lets get back to the core values and priorities.
Money - teaching an unbalanced over-emphasis on money with subtle (and often not-so-subtle) pressure to give followed by little or no financial accountability. Quoting Sam Eaton once more, "Go out of our way to make all financial records readily accessible. Earn trust so we can give with confidence." In Norway, Everyone's income is public—and so is tax paid.
Lack of accountability – autocratic, unaccountable styles of leadership that is like an authoritarian hierarchy rather than the servant leader that Jesus exemplified. A business I once worked for has the moto, “Open, honest, loving and fair” and it wasn’t a Church.
Science and Christianity - Is science and christianity incompatible; or are they actually in true harmony. The reality is that God has actually used science with the benefits of modern medicine and technology. Did the church once believe that the earth was flat? How long did it take for the clear evidence to be accepted?

All relevant topical issues. What about the Scriptures teaching on divorce or indiscriminate divorce or abortion or indiscriminate abortion? Why is 1&2 Timothy & Titus ignored in favour of a supposed five fold ministry? What NT authority is there for practising the OT tithing in the present day, or is it a pragmatic means of securing income. What is the teaching abut the death penalty or do we agree it is right to kill people in the services abroad but allow indiscriminate killing anywhere in Australia. Well done Mark you have opened a can of worms. A seasoned Octogenarian.
